The enthusiasm in the Class of 2021 Facebook page is off the charts, so we decided to bring back our “Tell Us About Yourself(ie)” series, which will highlight profiles of incoming students in the Class of 2021 from now until August Orientation.

Devin Duncan, ‘21 // Professional Writing // Bedford, MA

Our motto is “Let Us Dare.” What was the last thing you dared to do?

Dunno if this is the *last* thing, but daring to attempt writing a novel in high school is pretty high on the list of ambitious endeavors nobody had the good sense to tell me not to try.

What’s a poster you’ll definitely be hanging in your res hall room?

A Metroid poster or two. Or three. I love Metroid.

You’ve created a fun, eccentric course at Champlain. What is it?

Intro to 90s music?

What’s your go-to jam song?

If I could narrow down my musical interests enough to pick just one jam song, I might actually have space on my phone.

What’s your favorite breakfast food?

Biscuits and gravy or bacon. Or ramen, if I’m cooking.

Which celebrity would you most like to meet?

Liam Neeson.

If you could be any mythical creature, what would you be and why?

I would be a Dragon. Item 1: I could fly. Item 2: I could make s’mores quite easily. Item 3: I’d be a Dragon.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Flight. I would love the freedom of it. There’s something so liberating about being able to just… fly away.

Describe your perfect day:

Mid-autumn. Overcast or late in the evening so the sun hangs low. Cool enough to wear my flannel. And I’ve had a productive day of writing.

What’s a word or phrase you’re guilty of using too often?

You ask me what’s up, there’s a very real chance I’ll say “the sky.”
