Champlain College Holds 13th Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony

Champlain College’s 13th Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony was held on Friday, May 20, 2016, under a tent behind Roger H. Perry Hall on Champlain College’s campus.

A Graduate Open House Reception was held the night before on May 19 in the Perry Presentation Room, where degree recipients and their families had the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments.

The ceremony began with a processional provided by the Pipes and Drums of the St. Andrew’s Society of Vermont, as well as the National Anthem.

Scott Carpenter, the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, gave the Board of Trustees welcome, followed by student speaker Andréa Sisino ‘16. Sisino, of Hardeeville, Sc., received a Master of Science degree in Executive Leadership.

Brad Robertson ‘15, the Senior Vice President of MyWebGrocer in Winooski, Vt. and a former advisor to Champlain College’s Communication and Creative Media (CCM) division, gave the address to the graduates.

Dr. Laurie Quinn, the Provost and Chief Academic Officer of the College, also welcomed the graduates and their guests and provided a history of the hooding ceremony.

The President of the College, Donald Laackman, then presided over the conferring of degrees and addressed the crowd with a President’s Message.

A reception for graduates and guests was held immediately after the ceremony in the Champlain Room in the CCM Building on campus.
