The Champlain Transportation and Parking department is proud to announce the addition of the ChampRides program to its offerings. This program is a free bike sharing network for students and faculty. Champlain has purchased seven new bikes (to be named). There are a mix of city bikes, mountain bikes and cruiser bikes. Four of the bikes will be parked at the Lakeside campus while the remaining three bikes will be available in IDX.
Bikes will be available for checkout through the EMS (Event Management Service) system and can be rented for a maximum of four hours. To rent a bike, you need to be a student or employee of Champlain, have a valid ID, and sign the waiver located here. That’s it!
Nic Anderson, Director of Transportation says “We wanted to use this program as a way of providing cheap and sustainable transportation to our community. Employees can use them to hop up to a meeting really quick and grab some exercise, and students can use them to grab a quick coffee downtown. The possibilities are really endless.”
Check out the launch event happening this Wednesday June 10 from 11:30 a.m. to noon in IDX with President Donald J. Laackman, and afterward join Anderson for a leisurely kickoff ride from 12-12:30 p.m.
