The Blue Eyed Grizzly Clan

By Kate Young ‘14

If you haven’t already heard of the Blue Eyed Grizzly Clan, you should really listen up.

Once upon a time, in Burlington, Vermont, four Champlain College guys made the decision to compete in the 2013 Mongol Rally.

For those that don’t know, the Mongol Rally is a car rally that begins in Europe and ends in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. It is designed and said to be the adventure of a lifetime. As it is 10,000 miles across Europe and Asia, it certainly will have plenty of adventures, planned or not. The challenge also requires that all teams donate at least $750 to two different charities.

The four guys, Nick Lappen, Alex Gunter, Wilson Slader and Chris Erickson, all recent graduates of the class of 2013, make up The Blue Eyed Grizzly clan, and six days ago they flew across the ocean to begin their adventure.

Though we can’t join them on this adventure, we can all follow along as they adventure and compete.

First things first, make sure you check out the official Mongol Rally site here and track the Blue Eyed Grizzly Clan’s progress across Europe and Asia from here.

You should also make sure to follow their adventures on twitter @BlueEyedGrizzly and keep up with all their posts on their blog here.

Keep checking back here too! We will be posting soon about their progress on the trip and how they got to where they are now.
