To the Campus Community:
We want to send a sincere thank you to all who attended last Friday’s event (A Working Session for Women’s Empowerment Initiatives), and to those who could not make it but emailed ideas and suggestions. A group of almost 60 faculty, staff and students came together to brainstorm educational programming (films, speakers, activities and events) as well as purpose and outcomes of this initiative. We have a tremendous amount of data to sort through and prioritize for next steps but we are thrilled with the passion and energy that came from this working session.
Since the session we have committed to making the following happen by the end of this semester:
- Films: Our goal is to organize one film/discussion for February, March and April.
- Speakers: Our goal is to bring at least one speaker to campus this semester.
- Events: Our goal is to run at least two of the campus events suggested at Friday’s session this semester.
Participants in Friday’s session were surveyed for how they would like to continue to be involved. These participants will be invited to help plan, prioritize, and organize future programming if that is what they indicated on their survey. If you would like to be involved please fill out this online survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PhPMFCUAKDFruRnKs6mzUAUEDE5GTD31PHv_t1IYTMc/viewform
Be on the lookout for an update on next steps with the next week or so. All the best,
Mary Lee, Leslie Averill and Jen Sweeney
