Durick Hall has been home to many things in its history everything from Public Safety offices to Career Services. As of this week, it is the new home of the Champlain College Bookstore, which moved 530 steps down South Willard St. from it’s former location in Joyce Hall.
“We are all moved in, I am really pleased with how it came out.
Champlain and the construction crew both did a beautiful job,” said store manager Sue Brown.
The move was made necessary as three classroom located in Hauke Center are being moved to the former bookstore space to prepare for the expected start of construction next spring on the new Communications
and Creative Media building next to Hauke.
In honor of the new location, students, faculty and staff should watch for upcoming Flash sales, she added. Many students will have a chance to check out the new location during the book buyback and rental check-in events. Brown is planning a variety of raffles each day. The store is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week. The event schedule is:
Monday, Dec. 9: Pizza Coupon Raffle (pizza while it lasts)
Tuesday, Dec. 10: Lake Champlain Chocolate Raffle
Wednesday, Dec. 11: $50 Bookstore Gift Card Raffle
Thursday, Dec. 12: $25 Gas Card Raffle
Friday, Dec. 13: $25 Subway Raffle
In addition to textbooks, the store continues to carry a variety of Champlain-branded clothing, souvenirs, convenience items and snacks. You can even have your photo taken with Ron Burgundy of “Anchorman.”
The bookstore is located at 174 South Willard St., just across the street from Skiff Hall.
